These days, the Kitchen Bitch and NFL Guy are in the throes of last-minute wedding details.

One minute, we’re wondering why we didn’t elope (oh, hey, that pesky Catholic thing), and the next we’re tempted to throw ourselves in front of a streetcar.

What we have learned, though, is that having romantical alone time is critical to maintain perspective in the face of all of this madness about favors and other sundry bullshit.

And yes, you, too, can create a gourmet instadate(tm) night in under an hour.

Squee! of Squee!: The sick doggeh edition

You’ve all seen Jake, the ridonkulously precious collie o’ mine.  Our other dog, Charlie, was previously shunned from Afternoon Squee! because the hussie (half husky, half collie) flat out peed all over the train of my wedding gown…

…which I have yet to wear.

But we love our doggeh, so much so that we spent several hours and a huge chunk of change at the vet’s office yesterday when I came home to find the doggeh equivalent of a Jackson Pollack painting of feces and blood in our back hall. 

Hey, he’s got good timing, right?

Monday’s Music

Woooo hooooo! Cait and Dave!

In a very special episode of Monday’s Music, we here at Thundersquee! wish Cait and Dave a hearty and heartfelt congratulations on their upcoming nuptials this weekend. Our Cait is the sweetest, most considerate, most selfless person we know and deserves someone who will think of her first as she so often puts herself last. We know she is in good hands with Mr. Eyeblack. Theirs is a very special love, of Princess Bridian proportions, and we are all so pleased they’re jumping off the Cliffs of Insanity together – likely yelling “Geaux Noles” as they plunge ahead into the future. And so, with love in our hearts and booze in our glasses we say, may you be as happy as two islands in a stream.

The Kitchen Bitch loves her cooking magazines, but hates cooking heavy meals in the summer – it’s just too hot here in the Big Easy, and really, who wants to get the vapors?

Besides, with a wedding coming up in just 11 days, I’m mostly just ready to collapse from exhaustion…

…or ignore making wedding favors in order to go see The Hangover with NFL Guy.

I digress.

Kwai Chang Caine Walks the Earth No More

Rest in peace, David Carradine

Iconic “Kung Fu” and “Kill Bill” star David Carradine, has passed away. Carradine, 72, was found dead in his Bangkok hotel room overnight.

Peter Gibbons will be crushed.  Then again, so are we.

There’s some tragic speculation as to his cause of death, but let’s focus on his innate badassedness, Squeers!, and send warm fuzzies to his loved ones.

But today marks 36 days until I formally commit myself to NFL Guy, my fiancé, for the next eleventy billion years, and we can all use a bit of levity on such days, right?

Especially our gal/Squeer! Chelsea, who is getting married this month—mazel tov!

The Swooning Saint Edition

Continuing a sports theme this week here at Thundersquee, we’d like to present our NFL Boyfriend, Drew Brees, insanely talented (and kind) quarterback for the New Orleans Saints.

Dare you to say “Ponchatoula” ten times fast

It’s spring, and in the southeast that means absurdly humid and dank days followed by breezy, cool evenings.

Gah.

In Louisiana, March and April mean strawberries – specifically, fresh strawberries from Ponchatoula.

Like most New Orleanians, the Kitchen Bitch is currently obsessing over Jazz Fest (which starts this weekend), but she is also insanely stressed about her upcoming wedding.

With the Blessed Event less than two months away, the Bitch needs a distraction.  And the flat of fresh strawberries in her kitchen last week provided just that.
