Afternoon Awesome

A bit wise

shannonThis day in tech: April 30, 2009

“Claude Elwood Shannon, the father of information theory and the man who coined the term bit, is born.”

He’s totally hot in a brainy dead guy way.  You should check him out.  For the geek inclined, this Wired feature is pretty cool in general.

Thanks WhoMee!

The Pig Man Cometh

A very special PSA from Jujubees

I know we have all heard these “stories” from our government and their puppet agencies. But unlike the rest of you, I have my own infallible source. We will call him “Han Solo.” Because that was his nickname as a toddler. Sure, he’s only 11 years old. But he’s quite wise for his age. I knew this from the time he was a small fetus. Which is why I named him Solomon – I mean, “Han Solo.”

He never fails to get me with, “I see your epidermis.” He was right about that. I, too, could see my epidermis.

I’m rambling.

But unlike all these so called “experts.” And their 7-9 day infections period. Talking about high infectious rates. It’s supposedly a mutation of a previous flu strain of swine origin. Does that not sound suspicious to you, too? Continue reading

Afternoon Squee!

Kittens and Squirrels live together in perfect harmony, side by side on my piano keyboard, or lord, why don’t weeeee?

Ok, fine it doesn’t rhyme or scan or even remotely fit into those lyrics…or make sense, but who cares when there’s kittens and squirrels to be awwed over!

The awesome starts at about the 25 second mark.

Thanks for the adorable tip,  Stay, See?

Mondegreen of the Week

Stairway to Heaven, Led Zeppelin

There’s a lady who’s sure
All that glitters is gold
And shes buying a stairway to heaven.
When she gets there she knows
If the stores are all closed
With a word she can get what she came for.
Ooh, ooh, and she’s buying a stairway to heaven.

And there’s a wino down the road as we wind on down the road
I should’ve stolen Oreos Our shadows taller than our soul.
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold.
And if you listen very hard
The Jew will follow you a lot The tune will come to you at last.
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll.

And she’s buying a stairway to heaven.

Who Would You Rather?

Sister Sister Edition

Emily is best known for the role of Forensic Anthropologist Dr. Temperance Brennan on the FOX TV show Bones, while Zooey is better known for numerous movie roles and drooled over by geeks everywhere for her turn as Trillian in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Zooey’s also a talented singer and song writer.  They’re obviously both talented and intelligent women, but the question remains…

Food for Thought

Supreme Ruler Edition

ts-darth-vader-face1

I love hypothetical questions. There’s nothing better than hearing what people would do if they were put in certain situations or given certain opportunities. I find these kind of questions always lead to the most entertaining and enlightening conversations. With that being said, I now ask you:

If you were supreme ruler of the world what would you do?

Brain Busters

Ditloid Edition

ts-brain-buster

You all may know that I hate everything, but one thing I definitely do not hate is trivia. Every Tuesday, I drag the boyfriend and friends to my local hole in the wall for Quizzo Trivia (It’s nationwide too!) And every week, the Bonus rounds make me want to brick the host in the face.  So I thought I would share some of my pain with all of you. This week’s brain buster is a Ditloid.  Example: Twelve hours in a day=12 H I A D, or a more Squee! oriented example would be: To me, in my opinion=TMIMO

And now for your challenge!  Guess the song.

Good luck, Squee-ers!

Random Drunk Emission

COPS Editionts-cops

Why is COPS so fun to watch? Every episode is the same but I can’t stop watching it. Is it because watching crack heads and wife beaters get arrested makes me feels better about myself or is it because these people make asses out of themselves on national tv? They know it’s going on COPS because they have to sign a waiver in order for COPS to use their image.

I get an extra shot of glee when the episode is shot in the city I live in. Maybe I’m just bored? Who knows. All I know is that I must not be the only watching this show because it’s be on the air for eleventy years or something.
