Homeless People Should Stay Out Of L.A.

No Change For The Homelesshomeless

In a recent study to find out which city is the meanest to the homeless, L.A. came out as number one. Los Angeles has the “Safer City Initiative” which, according to the Mayor’s office, was put in place to reduce crime among the homeless. That’s a nice thought but I don’t really understand how ticketing people for loitering or putting their stuff on the sidewalk is going to protect them. You know they are not going to be able to pay their tickets so why waste the time of police officers? The Safer City Initiative promised more housing for the homeless, but has yet to deliver. California is in a huge economic crisis right now so I don’t really think it’s fair to criticize them for not investing money they simply don’t have on housing for the homeless. I feel bad for the homeless people but I really don’t think L.A. has the resources to pour into a huge housing for the homeless thing right now. My advice to the homeless? Move to New York, they’re the most homeless friendly place and there is much change to be had by all.

  1. They haven’t built any homeless housing because the revenues from the tickets they have written to homeless people aren’t coming in. It’s messing with the budget.

  2. AdAd: ha!

I worked for a nonprofit that is building a huge medical center down in skid row. You know, after learning about all the programs and stuff we have down there for the homeless, I was all inspired about what is available for homeless people.

But we’re also the same city that dumps homeless patients back on skid row, still in their hospital gowns, with no post-care.

Bleh. I keep day dreaming about moving to NY but don’t have the money. Maybe I’ll just go and be homeless there for a while…

  3. That’s okay. Fort Worth puts them on a bus for Dallas, and Dallas just puts them on a bus for Shreveport.
