Afternoon Squee!

What an Awesome Display of Cunning Pack Mentality! (Pack mentality indeed, it’s more like pack brutality!)

Today’s guest contributor for Afternoon Squee! is Squeer! Cristal Methodd.

At times nature can be cruel, but there is also a raw beauty, and even a certain justice manifested within that cruelty.

The alligator, one of the oldest and ultimate predators, normally considered the “apex predator” in its natural eco-system, can still fall victim to the well  implemented “team work” strategy that’s made possible by the tight knit social structure and “survival of the fittest pack mentality” bred into the canines over thousands of years by natural selection.

Note that the Alpha dog has a muzzle hold on the gator preventing it from breathing, while the remainder of the pack prevents the beast from rolling.

Photo after the jump. Not for the squeamish!

  5. You had me at “alligator”. I hail from the swamps of Florida, so I’m used to the odd gator pic. But this cuteness beats that rawness any day!

(This story is probably not for the squeamish for realz 🙂
