Ed McMahon, Passed Away at 86

ed_mcmahon000x0266x424Ed McMahon died today, June 23, 2009, at the Ronald Reagan/UCLA Medical Center. His death was attributed to pneumonia and other medical problems. He was a gameshow host, professional sidekick, Starsearcher and  Publisher’s Clearing House huckster, and wanted you to turn your gold into cash, but most notably, he was the man who spent 30 years in the shadow of  Tonight Show legend, Johnny Carson.  For three decades McMahon shouted “Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeere’s Johnny!” on a nightly basis,  laughed raucously at Carson’s jokes  and  occasionally yelled “Hey-oh!” In doing so he  made himself more iconic than the host he served.  He will be missed.

  1. This makes me sad. 😦 He seemed like one of the last really nice guys left in Hollywood.
