The Muppet Showts-thunderdome1

This week we are going back to one of the best variety shows to ever be on TV.  When it aired, The Muppet Show had some of the biggest stars lining up to get appear on the show. If the show still were on air today, it would have the Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, and Lady Gaga performing. Thankfully it’s not around anymore, so we won’t have to sit through that crap.  Nobody wants to see Kermit asking Miley about the new Hannah Montana movie. You know the Jonas Brother would have Scooter in a purity ring by the end of the show. And let’s not even consider what Lady Gaga would do to Miss Piggy.

First up this week is Rita Moreno and Animal with the song Fever.

Fighting it out with them is Elton John and Miss Piggy with Don’t Go Breaking My Heart.

Give them a listen and cast your vote. Last week Young Madonna bitched slapped old Madonna. We all clearly liked her much more before she went all British cryptkeeper on us.

  1. The Muppet Show is pretty much the only thing my toddler watches, since we don’t have “real” television, and 15 month olds shouldn’t be watching that much TV anyway. One of my favorite songs from the first season isn’t with a celebrity, though – Electric Mayhem’s cover of Ain’t Misbehavin’.

  2. Miss Piggy kissing Elton’s chest was disturbing. Almost as bad as his jumpsuit. And I’m ashamed to say I looked and…how did he make his suit, er, child friendly? He was a little Ken doll, if you know what I mean (and I think you do).

Meanwhile, Rita Moreno is my kind of lady too!

  3. Forget “child friendly,” Hobo — how did they make that jumpsuit PUPPETEER friendly???? Remember there’s a guy kneeling below the Miss Piggy puppet. I can only assume his face was, ummm, awfully close Elton’s, umm, Battle of the Bulge.

  4. I didn’t think of that. But now that I have, I’m wondering if that was, in fact, very Puppeteer friendly. I know Elton wasn’t out yet at that point, but he still got out now and again… 😉
