Behold The God TV

He Said “Come And See,” And I Sawtv22

As some of you may know I have been without cable tv for about 10 years. I never gave much thought to it, so I didn’t really miss it. Recently my mother-in-law became a dealer for Direct TV and she decided to hook me up with a delux package at no cost to me. I’ve never known the glory of DVR; it is truly amazing. I can watch anything whenever I get around to watching it which works well with my dislike of schedules. More importantly, it allows me to skip commericals. I have a very deep-seeded hatred of commericals–they are the reason I shunned TV in the first place. I know I’m a few years behind here, but I just felt the need to share my excitement with the group. Also, Food Network is the best thing ever. EVER I tell you. Now that I have the glorious Direct TV I need to know what shows I need to be watching. Does anybody have any suggestions?

  1. True Blood on HBO. Get some.

  2. Bones. Reruns only right now, but still awesome. Not always safe for eating and watching if that kind of stuff bothers you, just warning.
In no particular order, I’ve also gotten hooked on: Saving Grace, Burn Notice, and the new Law and Order that has Jeff Goldblum.
Also in the rerun-only category are Psych and Monk.
I also heartily second True Blood. They seem to have really diverged from the book plotlines this season (but not in a bad way), so it’s more interesting to me now that I don’t know what to expect.

  3. Too bad Rock of Love Bus isn’t on. haha!

    1. Whale Wars on the Animal Planet is a terrific show.
    2. If you like fishing, River Monsters (Either on the Discovery channel or Animal Planet) is another good one too.

That’s all I can think of for now.

  4. Burn Notice (USA-Thursday nights) and Army Wives (Lifetime-Sunday nights)

  5. Oh, and I don’t know about Direct, but on Time Warner On Demand we have Isabella Rossellini and her Green Porno – which is hilarious in a very immature and childish way. Either way, it’s funny and you should watch them.

  6. Without a doubt, you need to be on a strict regimen of The Hills (it’s so sick you can hardly take your eyes away) and Paris Hilton’s My New BFF (more sick than anything that’s ever been aired on TV including Faces of Death if that was ever on TV…) Actually – the Hills is off the air for now so you’ll have to stick with the absurdity of Paris. Like watching a train wreck….

  7. I record all the Frasiers, Will & Graces, Cybills and Just Shoot Mes… Then I watch them all on the weekends. OK, no, I delete the Cybills… but I like to have them as back-ups, you know. If I were to want to watch them. But obviously my taste is very sophisticated, so.

  8. Ahem:
I add my suggestions of Burn Notice, which is back in season, and also add In Plain Site and the new one Royal Pains, both which I like.
Also a big fan of The Closer.
Psych should be back on soon (new eps).
So You Think You Can Dance is awesome!
And I’ve been enjoying seeing some of my face sci-f alum join Zack Morris on Raising the Bar. The chick from 4400 is totally hooking up with Gunn from Angel! That makes me happy.

  9. Did anyone catch Better off Ted last night? It was not too bad. I liked their take on corporate diversity efforts. 🙂
