Obama Helps 4th Grader Avoid Trouble for Skipping School

The Cuteness Breaks My Brain

ts-barack-obama-teens11Obama, give it a rest already!  We get it!  You’ve got a sense of humor, and you seem like an all around good guy.  But dial it down a bit, wouldja?  Because this?  This is too much.  Yesterday, Obama held a town hall meeting at Southwest High School in Greenbay, Wisconsin.  John Corpus, father of 10-year-old Kennedy Corpus, stood up to ask a question about healthcare, but not before introducing his daughter:

Corpus: “I am fortunate enough to be here with my 10-year-old daughter who is missing her last day of school for this. I hope she doesn’t get in trouble.”

Obama: “Do you need me to write a note?”

Corpus: “I’ll take you up on that actually, Mr. President.”

Obama: “All right, I’ll start writing it now. What’s her name?”

Corpus: “John Corpus.”

Obama: “No. Her.”

The audience laughed and cheered while Mr. Corpus, probably assuming that Obama wasn’t actually going to write for his daughter a “get out of school free” pass, continued to ask his healthcare question.  But Obama wasn’t having it: “I’m serious. What’s your daughter’s name?”  After Corpus told him, Obama responded: “Kennedy.  All right.  That’s a cool name.”

Then Obama stopped and wrote the young girl a note: “To Kennedy’s teacher. Please excuse Kennedy’s absence. She’s with me.”  And he signed it: “Barack Obama.”

Kennedy collected her note from the President, apparently while her father was asking Obama a question about healthcare.  After the event was over, the young girl spoke to the press: “I thought he was joking until he started walking down.  It was like the best thing ever.”

No kidding.  That’s something that little girl is going to want to show her kids someday.

  4. He rocks & I love that he still does these town hall meetings. That way, it’s gets us to write our senators and get involved with how the country is run. At least, I think that’s what it’s meant to do.

  6. WhoMee-

i know, right? isn’t it great? what a wonder, having a president go to the middle east and have people cheering for him rather than throwing shoes at his head.
