Bad Google! That’s a Very Bad Google!

Why Does Google Hate America?

As Thundersquee! noted on Saturday, June 6 was the 25th anniversary of the invention of the absurdly addictive game Tetris.  Google, known for its quirky signage in celebration of various holidays:

drew criticism when it commemorated the Tetris anniversary this past Saturday, rather than the anniversary of D-Day.

According to World News Daily (WND),

As WND has reported, Google has a history of ignoring major American patriotic and religious holidays, while honoring Remembrance Day in Australia, Canada, Ireland and the United Kingdom, the Chinese New Year, Valentine’s Day, Halloween and other observances.

Since it was founded in 1999, Google also has a history of commemorating National Teachers Day, Women’s Day, Ray Charles’ birthday, World Water Day and St. George’s Day, while ignoring Christmas, Memorial Day, and – until two years ago – Veteran’s Day.

Google has also been frequently criticized for its content policies and one-sided political slant:

* Issuing a statement publicly opposing Proposition 8, California voters’ attempt to constitutionally define marriage as between one man and one woman

* Restricting Christian advertising on the issue of abortion, until a lawsuit compelled Google to amend its policy

* Rejecting an ad for a book critical of Bill and Hillary Clinton while continuing to accept anti-Bush themes

* Rejecting ads critical of Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., while continuing to run attack ads against former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas.

If you follow the maze of links in the World News Daily article, you’ll notice that they are all self-referential (seriously, click on all the links on that website…you never leave the damn site!).  So yes, “WND has reported” Google’s hatred of America and yes, “Google has also been frequently criticized”–by World News Daily–for hating America and being communists.

Google could not be reached for comment, but authorities say that the URL http://www.worldnewsdaily.com now automatically redirects to www.googlepwns.com.

  1. Awesome!

And last time I checked, Google is a privately owned company. I mean, it’s not like it’s a government funded service that our taxes pay for and therefore has to appease every frackin’ person on Earth. World News Daily can suck it.

  3. D-day in a google logo wouldn’t it just be offensive?
how could that possibly work it in anyway? although Anzac day (remeberance day australia) was worked with a suttle two poppies as the O’s which was respectful so perhaps..
