The Final Frontier

Photographer Thierry Legault ts-atlantis_2009may12_crop

French photographer Thierry Legault captured this image of the Space Shuttle Atlantis passing in front of the Sun.  Mr. Legault specializes in photographing outer space. Click here to see the Space Shuttle Atlantis and the Hubble Space Telescope crossing the Sun. Or here to see Atlantis and the International Space Station.

You can visit his web site here. I highly recommend that you do so. He has captured some truly amazing images from space, many of which need to be viewed at a larger size than we can post here to do them justice.

Looking at Mr. Legault’s work, I was reminded of Yakko’s Universe Song from Animaniacs.

(Many thanks to Mr. Legault who granted Thundersquee! permission to post the Space Shuttle Atlantis image.)

  3. I like the pic of the shuttle and the Hubble. It’s amazing how big the Hubble is (that’s what she said?). One Fine Guidance Sensor (FGS) weighs 478 lbs and measures 5.5 ft long, 4 ft wide & 2 ft high. And there are three on the Hubble! And that’s *only* the sensor!

P.S. The shuttle crew woke up to “Cantina Band” from Star Wars today.
