Dog Friendly Ride

Honda Element

Dog Friendly Honda Element ConceptI am so excited! I own two black labs, some of you have have heard of them. They cavort with the devil. These dogs are teh evil. We are talking “left alone in the car for 10 minutes and ate all the seat belts” evil.

Well Honda has a solution for me. Looks like I’ll have to trade in my 2008 Fit for an ugly ass special doggy edition of the Honda Element. For those of you in the know, this car is the car of choice for dog people. It is made out of plastic. PLASTIC. They can’t ruin the carpets if they are plastic.

The special edition will contain:

1. A cushioned pet bed in the cargo area on an elevated platform.
2. An extendable loading ramp.
3. A 12-volt rear ventilation fan.
4. Second row seat covers in a dog-pattern that matches the pet bed fabric.
5. A spill-resistant bowl and all-season rubber mats with a bone pattern.
6. Special Edition emblems.

Ok so most of this stuff is lame but the ramp and ventilation fan are key. Seriously two dogs in a car = major doggy breath. As for the ramp – have you had to carry a sick 60 pound black lab into the car because she got hit by a car and couldn’t jump? No? Well if you do, you’ll wish you had a ramp.

That article has other crap about cars, where to get them etc. etc. Who cares about that stuff.  My car seat can match my dog’s bed! BAD ASS.

Seriously, if he can do this to my couch, what could he do to my car?

I need that car even if it only gets 20/25 mpg.

  1. Puppies!!!

My yellow lab Lucy stripped the deck. With her teeth. She also clawed through a door, chewed holes in every couch cushion, and started tearing up the carpeting.

Oh labs! How do they ever make service dogs out of you?

  4. I have a doberman/lab/rhodesian ridgeback mix. Imagine a super-sized lab with a stubborn streak and separation anxiety to rival any documented case. She has shredded about 17 comforters, eaten a 12*10 dhurry rug, destroyed 4 ladderback dining room chairs, single-handedly ripped a 10 foot tall dogwood limb from limb, and dug a hole through my backseat. I suddenly feel an overwhelming desire to own a Honda Element.
