Mad Men: The Video Game!?

Will there be a cheat code for unlimited cigarettes?

john-hammLions Gate Entertainment, Inc.  has applied to register a trademark for a Mad Men videogame. So far there doesn’t seem to be an actual game in the works, but there is speculation that this is the first step in the process. That’s right;  someday you will be able to take control of Jon “Honey Baked” Hamm’s Don Draper and take part in some 1960s advertising fun.

If this comes to fruition, hopefully they will release it for the Wii. I think the Wii’s controllers will lend themselves nicely to lighting cigarettes and getting that proper wrist action when you slap your secretary on the ass and call her babydoll. I think the real question is whether or not we’ll be able to drink Scotch in the game. If you can, our own Angry Black Lady might need an intervention. If she can drink Scotch in real life at the same time she’s doing it in a game,  I’m pretty sure she’d travel back in time.

Mad Men isn’t the first TV show to get made into a game. I don’t want to brag, but I happen to own the Barney Miller board game and I’ve played the Little House on the Prairie board game. It’s OK to admit you’re jealous.

While reading up on the subject of TV shows with their own games,  I discovered that there’s a Grey’s Anatomy game for the Wii. Here’s the game description.

Immerse yourself into the high-stakes world of Seattle Grace hospital! Play as one of your favorite characters from the show, including Meredith, Derek, and Cristina. The hospital is experiencing one of the most serious crises in its history. You’ll watch the staff do their best work while you influence the storyline with each decision you make. Tackle life or death decisions in the operating room, making full use of the control capabilities of the Wii. Plus you’ll manage complex and difficult personal relationships throughout the game. Do you have what it takes to handle love, life, and danger under pressure?

Maybe it’s me, but McDreamy doesn’t look so dreamy.

I highly recommend going to gamefly.com and checking out the screen shots for the game. It looks like they spent at least tens of dollars developing it.

  1. wow, just wow! If you can have sex in the on-call room, I’m totally gonna get a Wii just to get that game 😛

Although, the tens of dollars was right. Yeesh!

  3. LOL @ tens of dollars. I can’t even tell if that’s supposed to be Meredith or Addison. (I presume Meredith, but only based on the description, not the image.)
